Steve is thrilled to embark on a new chapter as a first-year teacher, bringing with him a
wealth of experience from the world of business. With a passion for inspiring young
minds and fostering growth, Steve is dedicated to creating a dynamic and engaging
learning environment where every student feels valued and empowered.
Prior to entering the field of education, Steve has spent 25 years in the Outdoor Industry
with a decade as a Whitewater Kayak Instructor and Guide and most recently, the last
15 years as a Sales Representative for the largest manufacturer of paddle sport
equipment in the world. He has honed valuable skills in leadership, communication,
problem-solving, and goal attainment. This unique background equips Steve with a
diverse perspective and innovative approach to teaching, ensuring that students are
prepared for success in an ever-evolving world.
As a lifelong learner, Steve is committed to professional development and staying
abreast of the latest educational practices and methodologies. He is excited to leverage
his business acumen to create real-world connections in the classroom, helping
students see the relevance and importance of their studies beyond the walls of the
school.
Outside of the classroom, Steve enjoys mountain biking, skiing, travel, reading, and
paddling the rivers of our home here in the Smokies and the around the world. He is
eager to become an integral part of the school community, collaborating with
colleagues, parents, and students to make a positive impact and inspire a love for
learning.
Steve holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from WCU and is
enthusiastic about the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of MDCS students.
He believes that education is the key to unlocking endless possibilities and is excited to
embark on this transformative journey as a first-year teacher.
