Jen Thomas has an extensive background in education with a Bachelor’s degree from Western Carolina University in Birth-Kindergarten, with a concentration in music, and holds a K-6 teaching certification. She has dedicated 22 years to teaching at Swain in kindergarten and 2nd grade, which highlights her experience and commitment to education. She also has experience teaching at the Eliada Children’s Home and Murphy Montessori.
As an early elementary educator, Jen enjoys meeting students where they are and watching them grow and truly grasp learning and the moments that come with it. Jen’s passion for teaching younger elementary students shines through in her enjoyment of witnessing their growth and learning. She finds fulfillment in meeting each student at their current level and nurturing their love for learning. This approach not only supports their academic progress but also fosters a positive and encouraging environment in her classroom.
Outside of work, Jen values spending quality time with her family and her goldendoodle, Ollie. Her interests include spending time on the lake, walking in the park, enjoying the beauty of fall, reading, and enjoying winter weather.
