Jessica “Jess” Queen is proud to call Bryson City home, having lived in the area most of her life. With more than 20 years of teaching experience, she is passionate about helping students grow as readers, writers, and lifelong learners. Jess holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Birth-Kindergarten Education with add-on licensure in Elementary Education and Middle School English. She is also AIG certified and National Board Certified in Literacy.
One of her greatest joys as an educator is helping children discover books they truly enjoy and can get lost in. She values building meaningful relationships with students and families and believes parents and caregivers are a child’s first and most important teachers.
Outside the classroom, Jess enjoys spending time outdoors with a good book, relaxing at the lake, traveling, listening to music, attending concerts, and making memories with family. She is married to Janet, and together they share four beautiful children: Zachary, Clayton, Karena, and Colton.
Jess is excited to be part of the community at Mountain Discovery Charter School and looks forward to inspiring students through a love of literacy and learning.
